Lakers scout Jesse Buss: Julius Randle 'will definitely turn some heads'
With reports that the Los Angeles Lakers are trying to acquire Sacramento Kings big man DeMarcus Cousins, it's not entirely clear who will be on the roster for next season. But barring a blockbuster, Lakers fans should be excited to see what Julius Randle will bring to the table in his first real season on the court.
Randle technically won't be a rookie next season, since he did appear in an NBA game last year, but his in-game experience so far has been limited to 14 minutes played in that single game. But Randle had the benefit of becoming acclimated to the league off of the court — studying tape, learning routines, and living as a young adult with a healthy income.
Now that he's recovered and healthy, he's ready to show what he can do, according to Lakers scout Jesse Buss, son of the late Jerry Buss:
"I think Julius will definitely turn some heads this season and showcase his talent that has gotten him this far," Buss said in an extensive interview with the team's official website. "When we drafted Julius we were definitely looking at him as a player who we envision being here for a long time. Unfortunately, we live in a world where it's more of a 'what have you done for me lately,' but that's ok because I believe he's very eager to show people that he's going to be a good player in this league."
Buss also talked about how the Lakers decided to purchase an additional pick in last year's draft to select Jordan Clarkson, his dad's influence, and what he sees in last year's rookies off the court that impacts how they approach the game inside the lines.
