Lakers' Jordan Clarkson is '50-50' to play against the Spurs
There is a "50-50" chance that Los Angeles Lakers guard Jordan Clarkson (mild sprained right ankle) will play against the San Antonio Spurs at the AT&T Center on Friday, according to head coach Byron Scott.
Clarkson shot around at practice, but Scott said that that's much easier to do than chasing around a Hall of Fame point guard on defense.
“He’s standing still; it’s easy to stand there and shoot,” Scott said, according to the Los Angeles Daily News. “You have to move around and chasing Tony Parker is no easy task with two healthy ankles.”
Scott said Clarkson was limping around shootaround and sat out most of the drills. Clarkson claimed his ankle is a "little sore," and that he and Lakers trainer Gary Vitti “ordered another ankle" so he could be ready for Friday's contest in his hometown of San Antonio.
“We’re trying to get it in before game time,” Clarkson joked. “We’ll just see later today and try to do some stuff before the game. If it’s not doing too well, I’ll chill.”
The Lakers (3-19) will sorely miss Clarkson's 15.2 points per game (47 percent shooting), as he's been their best and most consistent offensive player, and they'll need an all-out effort against the mighty Spurs (18-5).
