LA Clippers' streak snapped at 7 with 111-107 loss to Grizzlies
The LA Clippers lost in the final seconds to the Memphis Grizzlies, 111-107. Their seven-game win streak has finally been snapped.
Marc Gasol of the Memphis Grizzlies (6-5) hit a corner three-pointer in the last 15 seconds to help seal a 111-107 victory against the NBA best LA Clippers (10-2). With the loss, the Clippers’ seven-game streak snapped in a tight back and forth game that came down to the last seconds after L.A. pushed back in the fourth after starting slow.
Mike Conley continued his great play against the Clippers, scoring 30 points with 7-of-9 shooting from three. Gasol added 26 points, making 4-of-5 made threes for the game. The Grizzlies shot 57.7 percent from deep with 15 made threes.
J.J. Reddick caught fire late to finish with 29 points and seven threes, all of which came in the second half. Blake Griffin delivered 25 points (8-of-15 shooting), eight rebounds, and three assists. Chris Paul, in a quiet night for him, was held to nine points and six assists, but had five steals. DeAndre Jordan pulled down 14 rebounds for the game and had a pair of blocks.
The Clippers shot 47 percent from the field and 36 percent from deep. They lost the rebounding battle to the Grizzlies 43-35, but partly made up for it by forcing 15 turnover with 13 steals. L.A. scored 24 points off turnovers.
Redick and Jamal Crawford heated up late and had a chance to win it after being down 16. J.J. came off a screen and took a pass from Griffin to take the lead with seconds left, but the ball slipped through his fingers toward the basket and the Grizzlies recovered the ball.
The battle of the benches
The Grizzlies outscored the Clippers’ bench 37-32. If it were not for Crawford’s explosion in the second half with 15 points, the disparity would be larger. The Clippers’ bench had only eight points on 4-of-11 shooting in the first half, and allowed the Grizz to go on a second quarter run (Memphis dominated the second period 35-18) that put them in a hole for most of the game.

The Clippers looked like the Clippers of old, a lot of talking to referees and not going on to the next play. Visible frustration and outbursts by the Clippers did not help in a very physical matchup. They paid for their talking in the fourth when Crawford received a technical. A tech seemed almost inevitable with the growing frustration of the team.
