Let me ask you a question: Would you want to give a ton of money to a team that won just 17 games a season ago? Probably not, right? Well, you're apparently not alone.
Here's more from Marc Berman of the New York Post:
Even 87 percent seems a little high considering the condition of the Knicks, who did revamp their roster to a degree over the summer, signing Robin Lopez, Arron Afflalo, Kevin Seraphin, Kyle O'Quinn and Derrick Williams. Knicks fans are loyal, though. They've got a consecutive sellout streak that dates back to 2010, one which could conceivably end this year if the team gets off to a slow start.

According to a Madison Square Garden spokesman, the Rangers’ season-ticket renewal rate for the upcoming season is 98 percent, a whopping 11 percent higher than the Knicks’ 87 percent rate.
Last year’s season-ticket renewal rate for the Knicks was 92 percent entering Phil Jackson’s first full year as president. The deadline for renewals was Aug. 28.
The Garden still expects both the Knicks and Rangers to sell out of season tickets after which single-game tickets will go on sale.
