Klay Thompson trade to the Celtics in the works?
Klay Thompson is being mentioned in a trade rumor that would send him to the Boston Celtics.
When the Golden State Warriors signed Kevin Durant, there was talk of someone needing to take a step back. They already boasted a high-powered offense, but one of their stars would have to sacrifice shots and his role in order to accommodate Durant. Klay Thompson made it very clear that it wasn’t going to be him.
He’s, mostly, struggled in the early part of the young season. It looks like he’s starting to turn it around, but the marksman is still shooting just 31.9 percent from deep. He’s playing better, but he still has lapses.
It seems like the Warriors are committed to their core of Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Durant, and Thompson. But Brian Scalabrine, TV analyst for the Boston Celtics, suggested on the radio that Golden State might be willing to break the Splash Brothers up.
"I heard this weekend that Klay Thompson may be available, I heard that rumor going around involved w/ a team that wears green" @Scalabrine

He didn’t offer much of anything else. The former Warriors assistant didn’t say what the Celtics could give up in exchange for the All-Star shooting guard. Though he did tweet out some clarification (if you can even call it that).
There’s a lot of NBA content on the Internet at any given time, but I feel like something of this magnitude would have definitely come across my timeline. In another tweet, Scalabrine revealed the source of the rumor. He got it from “The Morning Ledger” which doesn’t seem like a publication that really has its finger on the pulse of the NBA. But, they did predict World War III pretty soon.
Scalabrine needs to re-evaluate his reading choices. For the sake of his credibility. It’s also interesting to remember that he predicted that Russell Westbrook would get traded to Boston following Durant’s decision to join Golden State.
Klay Thompson is not going anywhere. And if he does, it probably has nothing to do with this rumor. The Celtics would have to give up a lot for the Warriors to consider moving their star. Golden State is heavily invested in Thompson and what he brings to the team.
