John Wall on Wizards' injuries: 'If it ain't broke, you can't get us off the court'
If Washington Wizards point guard John Wall was in a mood to exaggerate after his team pulled out a Game 1 win over the Atlanta Hawks, it's understandable. The win was just the second of Wall's career in Atlanta, and it gave the Wizards home-court advantage for the rest of this second-round NBA playoff matchup.
The truth is that both Wall and Bradley Beal were forced off the court during the win with injuries. Beal came down awkwardly on Hawks center Al Horford's foot after a made jumper and twisted his ankle, but he came back and led all scorers in Game 1 with 28 points.
Wall's injury was a bit scarier, as he crashed to the court and injured his left wrist. But Wall too came back, albeit with his wrist and hand heavily taped.
After the win, Wall spoke to the toughness that he and Beal displayed.
“We're two guys that’s going to fight until the end,” Wall said. “If it ain’t broke, you can’t get us off the court.” He later added about Beal, "He’s definitely not going to quit on his team. He’s a warrior like me.”
As for the injuries, neither player anticipated missing any time.
