Jared Sullinger shows off slimmer body in new selfie

In what has to be the first case of selfie ultimately helping a player negotiate his next contract, Boston Celtics power forward Jared Sullinger posted a couple shirtless pictures of his new, svelte upper body on Twitter Tuesday night.

There's no doubt Sullinger has been hard at work, spending time down in Houston with Coach John Lucas. In the last year of his rookie-scale contract, Boston's former first-round pick is serious about improving his body so he can play more minutes, put up better numbers and have a long, healthy career.

The Celtics can negotiate an extension with Sullinger (or Tyler Zeller and Perry Jones) up until Halloween, but it's unlikely the two sides come to an agreement. Boston should want to keep as much cap space open as they can, and locking any of their own talent to a long-term deal before next summer will hamper flexibility.

But if he keeps the weight off throughout the season and has the most productive year of his career, there's no doubt that Sullinger will get serious dough on the market as a restricted free agent next July. And with it, he should buy his very own Krispy Kreme.
