Iverson hosting two-day tourney in Vegas

Former NBA star Allen Iverson is set to host a two-day professional basketball tournament in Las Vegas.

Iverson is working with the Justice Entertainment Group on the four-team Las Vegas Superstar Challenge slated for Nov. 12-13 at the Thomas and Mack Center.

Iverson expressed excitement for the event at a press conference Wednesday. "I think this is a great opportunity to do what I love," Iverson said. "I was affected by the last lockout (in 1998), and it killed me not being able to play. This is a great opportunity to get to see guys play together that you would never normally get to see on the same team in a competitive atmosphere."

The star-studded lineup includes four teams, with Iverson teaming with a roster including Kevin Durant, Paul Pierce, Joe Johnson, Andre Iguodala, Rudy Gay, Zach Randolph, Jamal Crawford and Thaddeus Young.

Iverson has been out of the NBA since 2010 and spent part of last year playing in Turkey. He was the NBA MVP in 2001, when he led the Philadelphia 76ers to the NBA finals.

With the NBA in a lockout, the league's top stars have been playing in charity and exhibition games.
