Injuries are messing up Houston's summer league plan

A few weeks ago, the Houston Rockets looked forward to catching a glimpse of their first-round pick Sam Dekker in action at Las Vegas Summer League.

But he's yet to play a single minute, and the two "veterans" on Houston's squad, Clint Capela and Nick Johnson, are also out.

It's an extremely frustrating situation for a team that really wants to develop their youth. Here's more on the trio's various injuries, and whether any will suit up at all, per the Houston Chronicle:

"Capela is out with right knee tendinitis, Johnson with a right lower leg irritation and Dekker with a sore lower back. They all have been listed as day-to-day, but spoke as if they do not expect to play at all in summer league. It’s terrible because obviously you come here to play to show what you can do,' Dekker said. 'To not be able to is pretty frustrating, but this is the smartest thing for me. I guess just give it time and get rest and be ready when the games count.'”

The Rockets need depth at point guard, center and on the wing, which is why Capela, Johnson and Dekker are so important. It's a huge blow not to have any of them out there.
