Ice Cube picks his best all-time 3-on-3 team
Ice Cube and Roger Mason Jr. joined Wednesday’s episode of Undisputed to announce that the BIG3 3-on-3 basketball league - which will feature a number of former NBA players including Chauncey Billups, Kenyon Martin, Jermaine O’Neal, along with legendary coaches like Julius Erving, Rick Barry, Clyde Drexler and Gary Payton - will air on FS1 all summer starting June 26th.
“We’re extremely proud to announce that the BIG3 has just signed a deal with FOX Sports to broadcast our games right here on FS1,” Ice Cube said.
“We’re very excited. We’re going to be on Fox Deportes, and we’re also going to be streamed on FOX Sports Go.
This is a big day for the BIG3. We’re excited, we’ve been waiting for this day.”
Ice Cube: Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
“[Kobe and Jordan] and play the 1, 2 or the 3, they can defend the 1, 2 or the 3, but my guy in the middle would be Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. I just believe he’s dominant on both ends and he can move to be able to defend. Gimme Kareem.
Skip Bayless: Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant
“If I’ve got Jordan and Kobe defending outside, I’m not sure anybody’s going to get a shot off. And if I’ve got Shaq manning the lane, I think that’s an unbeatable threesome.”
Roger Mason Jr.: Shaquille O’Neal, Michael Jordan, Kevin Durant
“I’ve got to start with big Shaq in the middle, because of that imposing figure. I put MJ, obviously, in there, but then you need versatility in a game of 3-on-3. I actually would go with a guy that’s playing now - a guy named Kevin Durant. Because I think in 3-on-3, that versatility … we know he can score, that 4-point shot would be something he can knock down, and he can go inside too.”
Shannon Sharpe: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan, LeBron James
“Well I don’t know how you don’t have the guy with the most unstoppable shot. He scored the most points, he has the most MVPs. Kareem, I’m going Kareem. I got Mike on there, but I’ve got a guy that’s currently playing also as my third guy. The King of Akron. I’ve got to go with ‘Bron.”
