The Atlanta Hawks have selected Miami point guard Shane Larkin with the 18th overall pick in the NBA draft, one spot after selecting point guard Dennis Schroeder of Germany at No. 17.

The Hawks will likely trade one of the point guards.

Larkin, the son of baseball Hall of Fame shortstop Barry Larkin, averaged 14.5 points and 4.6 assists last season at Miami.

The 5-foot-11, 176-pound Larkin entered the draft after spending two seasons with the Hurricanes. Last season, he helped Miami win the Atlantic Coast Conference regular season and tournament titles and advance to the Sweet 16.

The Hawks haven't indicated if they want to re-sign Jeff Teague, the incumbent starting point guard who's a restricted free agent.
