Hamilton sits out for Pistons

Published Dec. 17, 2009 6:14 p.m. ET

Detroit's Richard Hamilton has been sidelined by a sore right hamstring for the Pistons' game at New Orleans.

Hamilton participated in warm-ups on Wednesday night but did not take the floor with starters as expected and team officials ruled him out for the game.

Hamilton scored 21 points on Tuesday night in Detroit's 107-96 loss at Houston. Pistons spokesman Cletus Lewis said that was also when Hamilton first began to experience soreness, although he'd hoped to play through it until a game-time decision was made to have him sit out.
