Garnett to LeBron: Butt out

Published Oct. 19, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

LeBron James was sticking up for a teammate. Kevin Garnett said to butt out.

Now, isn’t this fun?

Garnett was responding to James’ recent remarks about how much, uh, heat Ray Allen took when he left the Boston Celtics to sign with James’ Miami team as a free agent before last season.

“The first thing that I thought was like, ‘Wow, Ray got killed for leaving Boston, and now these guys are leaving Boston,’” James said (via the New York Daily News).

James was referring to Garnett and Paul Pierce’s departure from Boston for the Brooklyn Nets. There is an important distinction, though: They were traded.

Garnett’s response, however, wasn’t dealing with any nuances about how anyone left. It was much more direct — and directly aimed at James.

“Tell LeBron to worry about Miami,” Garnett said, according to ESPN.com. “It has nothing to do with Celtic business.”

Maybe James won’t say it, so we will: Actually, Garnett is the one who should be worrying about Miami, given how the NBA champs head into the season looking ready to defend their title.
