Do the Charlotte Hornets need Jason Washburn?
The Charlotte Hornets have a crowded frontcourt rotation. There's Al Jefferson, Cody Zeller, Frank Kaminsky, Spencer Hawes, Tyler Hansbrough and Marvin Williams. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will spend some time as a small-ball power forward, too.
So, is there any room for Jason Washburn, the former University of Utah center who Charlotte invited to its training camp on a non-guaranteed contract? SB Nation's At the Hive has more:
Washburn had an unspectacular college career, went undrafted in 2013 and then spent a few seasons in Europe. It's not the shiniest resume, but he's really tall, so, that's a plus.
In the end, Charlotte has 14 players on guaranteed deals, and burning the last roster spot on Washburn doesn't make much sense when they still need more shooting. Right now, he isn't the answer.

That is Washburn's best argument for making the team; being an extra body on hand and to have another possible post up threat on the roster. It also helps that he hasn't played much in front of the general NBA population to be exposed in any sort of way. Being unknown in these types of situations can help you, and his potential skill set of being a post up player while being to add in some shooting is enticing. He may not be the most know player, but maybe he can use that to his advantage come training camp.
