Charlotte Hornets to Hold Open Workouts For D-League Team
The Charlotte Hornets’ NBA Developmental League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm, are set to host open tryouts on October 2nd.
The Greensboro Swarm have announced that they will be holding open tryouts for the team on Sunday, October 2nd, 2016. The Charlotte Hornets’ D-League affiliate will be having their inaugural season this year. The open tryout is an opportunity for basketball players to live out their dream and get a shot at making the D-League team.
The Hornets’ announced last season that the Greensboro Swarm would be created and implemented into the 2016 NBA season. The Developmental League team expands the reach of Charlotte’s organization. The move also allows them to develop young players from free agency or the draft.
The open tryout will take place on October 2nd from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. It will be held at the UNC Greensboro Kaplan Center for Wellness. Attendees must complete a registration before September 28th and submit a $200 money order or cashier’s check.

If you think you have what it takes to make an NBA Developmental League team, then don’t waste time to sign up. Tryouts spots are limited and people are encouraged to register as soon as possible. If there are spots left by October 2nd, you can show up and sign up the day of but it will cost $250.
The event address will be on 1301 West Gate City Blvd, Greensboro, NC 27403. It may be unlikely that numerous people will be signed but it is a great shot for elite athletes and players. The Charlotte Hornets have already signed a few players this summer who will likely play for the Swarm this season.
Players like Mike Tobey, Treveon Graham, Christian Wood, and Perry Ellis could all spend time in the D-League this year. The implementation of Greensboro’s Developmental League team now opens up new opportunities for not only players to tryout for the team but also jobs in the community. The Swarm are also hiring people for the upcoming season to work for the team.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to make a D-League team for many basketball players. Although it will be rigorous and difficult to make the team, a few lucky attendees may get their shot. It will be interesting to see if any of the tryouts lead to a D-League contract.
