Cavs add Bernie Bickerstaff as assistant coach
Former NBA coach Bernie Bickerstaff will be an assistant on Mike Brown's new staff with the Cavaliers.
Cavs general manager Chris Grant divulged the hiring of Bickerstaff on Friday after the team introduced top pick Anthony Bennett, who was taken first overall by Cleveland in Thursday night's NBA draft.
Bickerstaff has previously worked as a head coach with Seattle, Denver, Washington and Charlotte. He took over as the Los Angeles Lakers' interim coach last season after Brown was fired after just five games. Bickerstaff also worked in the front office for the Nuggets and Bobcats.
Brown was rehired in May by the Cavs, three years after he was fired by owner Dan Gilbert.
Grant said Brown's staff will also include Jim Boylan, Igor Kokoskov, Phil Handy, Jamahl Mosley, Vitaly Potapenko and Bret Brielmaier.
