Carmelo Anthony, New York Knicks Spend The Night Out
Carmelo Anthony, Derrick Rose, and the New York Knicks spent a night out on the town. The chemistry in New York continues to build.
Talent is invaluable, but little matters more in the NBA than team chemistry. If the summer of 2016 has proven anything, it’s that New York Knicks seem to understand how important chemistry is.
Following weeks of workouts between new teammates, Carmelo Anthony helped bring the Knicks together for a night out.
The likes of Anthony, Brandon Jennings, Courtney Lee, Joakim Noah, Kristaps Porzingis, Derrick Rose, and Sasha Vujacic have all met in some combination for offseason workouts. It was a critical experience for a team with minimal continuity.
Anthony took to Instagram to post an image of he and seven Knicks teammates spending an evening together.
In other words: Anthony and the Knicks are building team chemistry both on and off the court.
Pictured in the photo are eight Knicks players. Those players are Anthony, Justin Holiday, Lee, Kyle O’Quinn, Marshall Plumlee, Rose, Lance Thomas, and Vujacic.
The only main roster players who weren’t in the picture are Jennings, Noah, and Porzingis.
Of the eight players pictured, four were acquired this past offseason. Lee and Plumlee signed with the Knicks in July, and Holiday and Rose were landed via a trade in late June.
Thus, it’s nothing short of critical that the Knicks develop team chemistry between players who are generally unfamiliar with one another.
Anthony did an outstanding job of rallying the troops during the 2015-16 season, as well. The difference between 2015-16 and 2016-17, however, is the level of talent New York has in the backcourt.
The newly formed starting backcourt of Lee and Rose made sure they spent the night out with their new friends and teammates.
Forgive me for sounding like a broken record, but the 2016-17 NBA regular season can’t come soon enough.
