Nick Arison is the new CEO of the Miami Heat.

The team announced the move Friday. Micky Arison remains the managing general partner of the Heat, and his 30-year-old son had been long expected to eventually take over the franchise.

Nick Arison had been the team's vice president of basketball operations since September 2008.

Nick Arison was a student manager under Mike Krzyzewski at Duke for four years, with the Blue Devils winning four Atlantic Coast Conferences titles in that span. He has been involved with several different aspects of Heat operations since beginning as a team attendant in 1995 and assisted USA Basketball's day-to-day operations at major events including the 2004 and 2008 Olympics along with the 2006 world championships.
