Anthony Davis vows to have 'different mindset' next season
To the other 29 teams in the NBA outside of New Orleans: You have been warned.
Pelicans big man and future king of the universe Anthony Davis introduced himself to those who were unaware of his prowess in a big way this season, but that doesn't mean continuing to do things the same way is on the agenda for The Brow. After all, the Pelicans made the playoffs this season, but they were summarily swept by the Golden State Warriors in the first round.
That doesn't sit too well with Davis, who's been watching these Finals with a keen eye, one particularly trained on those same Warriors. And what he's noticed is that Golden State is a team built to maximize the advantages that Stephen Curry provides. That same kind of setup could do the Pelicans wonders; it's not just about finding talented players, but more about finding guys who are good and fit into a cohesive unit.
As for Davis? He knows what he has to do. "It was a big year for me but you always want to get better and try to go into next year with a different mindset," Davis said. "I want to figure out how I can make my team better and do more than just make the playoffs."
New Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry will do his best to make sure the pieces fit. And if Davis is committed to taking the next step -- and it sure sounds like he is -- this is going to be a team to fear in 2015-16.
