Xfinity: Kyle Busch Returns to Form, Wins at Richmond

After struggling to perform at Bristol, Kyle Busch returned to form in the Xfinity Series at Richmond, taking a dominant victory on Friday night.

If you were a series regular in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, you relished the last two races without the winningest driver in series history (and some fans did enjoy it too). But on Friday night at Richmond, Kyle Busch returned and dominated the Virginia529 College Savings 250, all the way to victory lane.

However, if you turned on the race early, you saw a very different picture of the race from what was to come. Austin Dillon started the race on pole, while Busch would start back in seventh. Richmond, notorious for being a challenging track to pass on, would allow Dillon to take the lead early while Busch was trapped in traffic.

It would not be long until Kyle Busch made his presence felt. He took the lead before lap fifty and would never look back from there. His dominance would lead to only eleven cars finishing on the lead lap, and just one car finishing one lap down.

The race at Richmond, of course, signified just one race before the cutoff for the first Xfinity Series chase for the championship. On that front, Ryan Sieg held the final position on the grid, and expanded his lead over 13th-place Dakoda Armstrong by two points.

There’s now only one race that separates twelve drivers from the inaugural Xfinity chase for the championship. Which twelve will get that opportunity? That will be settled one week from now, as the Xfinity Series races at Chicagoland Speedway, live on NBC.
