What pushes a car to sell for $100,000 during Super Saturday at the Second Annual Hot August Nights Auction presented by Barrett-Jackson? Two things: 1. It's a great car; and 2. At least two buyers want it.

Such was the case with Lot 728, an astonishing 1933 Ford Custom two-door coupe that purportedly cost $200,000 to build. And it is easy to believe, given the level of refinement and detail in this bright yellow, all-steel car. When he rolled across the Barrett-Jackson auction block late Saturday afternoon, it had all eyes on it.

The bidding was spirited, with long-time Barrett-Jackson collecter John Staluppi prevailing with a winning bid of $100,000, plus 10 percent buyer's premium. This car wasn't inexpensive to buy, but it certainly represented excellent value for the money.
