INDIANAPOLIS (AP) The first Russian driver to compete in the IndyCar Series will be back next season.

Schmidt Peterson Motorsports announced Wednesday it has rehired Mikhail Aleshin.

Aleshin drove for the same team in 2014, spent last season running primarily for Schmidt's European LeMans Series team and then ran a third car with Schmidt's team at last season's final race in Sonoma.

Now he has a full-time gig in the No. 7 car. In a statement released by Schmidt's team, Aleshin said he was motivated and ready to win.
