Pippa Mann, breast cancer survivors paint IMS finish line pink
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway was constructed in 1909 and, until Thursday, its start/finish line had never been any other color than white.
Pippa Mann, a 32-year-old female IndyCar Series driver from England, has competed in four Indianapolis 500s with a best finish of 20th in 2011.
Mann is also an ambassador for Susan G. Komen.
On Thursday, she was joined by breast cancer survivors and IMS president Doug Boles at the frontstretch of the historic speedway to pain the start/finish line pink in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Also participating were members of Susan G. Komen Central Indiana, which received a check of $1,500 from the Speedway:
