Formula One driver Robert Kubica suffered another setback in his bid to return to racing after re-injuring his leg Wednesday in a fall.

The Polish driver, who missed the entire 2011 season after suffering severe arm and leg injuries in a serious accident at a rallying event in February, is thought to have slipped on a patch of ice near his home in the Tuscany region of Italy.

Reports suggested the 27-year-old re-fractured his right leg, a similar injury sustained in last year's crash.

Kubica was unable to return to the cockpit before the end of last season and further doubt was cast over his future when he was not named in the 2012 driver line-up at Lotus-Renault, for whom he had previously driven.
