Audi has topped the time charts in a two-day open test at the Nurburgring, as a number of FIA World Endurance Championship teams prepare for next month's first race at the famed German circuit.
The No. 9 Audi R18 e-tron quattro of Andre Lotterer, Benoit Treluyer and Loic Duval was quickest with a 1:37.458 lap time, set during Tuesday's dry running time, edging out rivals Porsche and Toyota, which also fielded a single LMP1 car.
The No. 19 Porsche 919 Hybrid, which featured Timo Bernhard, Brendon Hartley, Romain Dumas and Marc Lieb was second quickest with a 1:37.685, while the Toyota TS040 Hybrid of Anthony Davidson, Sebastien Buemi and Alex Wurz was more than two seconds behind.
Tuesday's times were significantly quicker from Monday, which saw rain wash out any considerable dry running time in the opening day in the test organized by Toyota Gazoo Racing.
ByKolles Racing's CLM P1/01 AER posted a best lap of 1:44.648, marginally ahead of the LMP2 class pace-setting Strakka Racing Gibson 015S Nissan of Danny Watts, Jonny Kane and Nick Leventis.
The British squad, switching from its Dome S103 to the ex-Greaves Motorsport Gibson chassis for the remainder of the year, outpaced the competition by more than one-second.
G-Drive Racing, Tequlia Patron ESM, Team SARD-Morand as well as newly crowned Le Mans class winners KCMG were all in attendance, racking up significant mileage.
Porsche Team Manthey ended the test 1-2 in GTE-Pro, while the No. 88 Abu Dhabi Proton Competition Porsche 911 RSR was the quickest GTE-Am runner.
No major incidents were reported over the two days, which saw a total of 21 cars turn laps.
The Six Hours of Nurburgring, the next round of the FIA WEC, is set for Aug. 28-30.
