Oh, David Lynn. Please stick around until Sunday.
The British golfer with the glorious hair/visor combination you see above spent the majority of Thursday morning atop the Masters leaderboard, finishing with a 4-under 68 and holding sole possession of the lead until a little after 1:30 p.m. ET.
Who is David Lynn? Unless you're an avid golf fan, you may not know much. If the name sounds familiar, it might be because you watched the 2012 PGA Championship, where he was the (distant) runner-up to Rory McIlroy — a healthy eight strokes behind.
Maybe that makes it a stretch to say he has come out of nowhere at Augusta, but besides that performance at the PGA, he has played in only one other major — he finished tied for 53rd at the Open Championship in 2003. This is his first Masters.
This latest arbitor of Lynn-sanity is a 39-year-old European Tour journeyman with two professional wins to his credit. He is ranked No. 53 in the world.
