What does the future hold for Jeremy Pruitt?

Barring a last minute change of heart, Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart will be the next head coach at Georgia. The Bulldogs already have an outstanding defensive coordinator in Jeremy Pruitt, who also helps lead up the Dawgs recruiting efforts.

So with Smart likely to be coaching in Athens next season, what does that mean for Pruitt?

The two coaches have worked on the same defensive staff in Tuscaloosa and won two national titles in 2011 and 2012. Pruitt left the Tide after that run to become Florida State's defensive coordinator where he won another national title in 2013.

Rumors of strife within the UGA coaching staff, lead by Pruitt and his "guys" on the staff, certainly didn't help efforts in Athens during a rough season. Now with Mark Richt likely headed to Miami, don't expect a reunion in South Beach.

Speculation surrounding Pruitt range from a return to Alabama, staying in Georgia to South Carolina - possibly as a head coach.

Without a doubt, whoever lands Pruitt will be getting a very successful coach that nearly saved Richt's job at Georgia and hauled in one of the top recruiting classes in the nation to Athens this offseason.
