Highly touted prospect Martez Ivey committed to the Florida Gators in a Wednesday morning news conference.

Ivey, out of Apopka High School in Florida, was ranked No. 3 by Scout.com. He was Scout's highest-rated prospect who had yet to commit to a school. Ivey visited Florida, Auburn and LSU since October of 2014 and had offers from several programs.

Ivey, a 6-foot-6, 271-pound offensive tackle, was expected to be choosing between Auburn and Florida. He was widely viewed as the nation's top prospect at his position.

Earlier Wednesday, Florida lost another battle when Byron Cowart, ranked No. 8 by Scout, announced he was committing to Auburn.

Cowart, a 6-foot-4, 250-pound linebacker was ranked No. 1 in some lists. He was widely reported to be heading to Florida before Will Muschamp was fired by the school. He'll join the coach after all as Muschamp is now the defensive coordinator at Auburn.
