Stanford, Utah drop in College Football Playoff rankings as Oregon, USC enter top 25

Published Nov. 17, 2015 9:55 p.m. ET

On Tuesday the third installment of the College Football Playoff rankings were unveiled and the Pac-12 predictably took it on the chin, though it could've been worse.

Last week, Stanford and Utah entered the top 10, coming in at No. 7 and No. 10, respectively. However, both teams lost this past weekend, all but ending the Pac-12's hopes of getting a team into the playoff.

Stanford came in at No. 11 this week after losing to Oregon 38-36 at home. Utah dropped to No. 13 after losing in double overtime to Arizona in Tucson.

Oregon and USC entered the top 25 at No. 23 and No. 24, respectively. The Ducks and Trojans will meet in Eugene on Saturday.

UCLA dropped out of the rankings after losing to Washington State at home. The Cougars are still outside of the top 25 despite winning five of its past six games, including road upsets of No. 23 Oregon and the Bruins.
