Purdue QB Marve granted 6th year
Purdue says that the NCAA has awarded Purdue quarterback Robert Marve a sixth year of eligibility, and he will play for the Boilermakers in 2012.
Marve missed all of the 2007 season, his true freshman year at Miami. He eventually transferred to Purdue and played just four games in 2010 after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in this left knee in the second quarter of a 31-20 loss to Toledo on Sept. 25.
This past season, he passed for 633 yards and four touchdowns while backing up Caleb TerBush. He scored the game-winning touchdown against Ohio State on a 1-yard run in overtime.
Marve is the third Boilermaker to be granted an additional season in the last four years, following defensive back Torri Williams in 2009 and linebacker Jason Werner in 2010.
