Brandon Stansell ran for 100 yards on 17 carries, Trey Bateaste scored on a 3-yard run in the second quarter and Mississippi Valley State beat Southern University for the first time since 2005, winning 6-0 on Thursday night.
''I'm proud of these guys, they deserved it,'' Delta Devils coach Karl Morgan said.
Eddie Ivory completed eight of 11 passes for 53 yards for Mississippi Valley State (1-2, 1-1), and Keven Woods had 14 tackles and forced a fumble.
Dray Joseph was 12 of 29 for 114 yards and threw an interception for the Jaguars (0-2, 0-1).
