Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio cleared up how injured senior SAM linebacker Ed Davis will be replaced, at least to start the season: sophomores Jon Reschke and Chris Frey will share the position.

"They'll both play," Dantonio told reporters in East Lansing on Tuesday. "We'll see who gets the nod based on practices this week, but both guys have done a great job with it."

The coach noted the 6-foot-2, 228-pound Reschke can also play in the middle while the 6-2, 235-pound Frey is also able to play the "Star" 'backer position.

Reschke had 13 tackles in eight games last season while Frey had 19 stops in 13 games.

Davis, who suffered a season-ending leg injury in August, was fourth on the tema with 58 tackles, including 12 for loss.
