Miles Gay returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown, and Dartmouth scored in every quarter of its 35-7 season-opening victory over Butler Saturday night.

In the first meeting between the schools, the Big Green quickly asserted itself on Gay's touchdown return, then scored again on a 7-yard run by Dominick Pierre to lead 14-0. Pierre later ran for a 1-yard TD to close the scoring in the fourth quarter. He finished with 170 yards on 26 carries.

Alex Park, Dartmouth's new starting quarterback, completed 15-of-20 passes for 184 yards and a touchdown. He found Michael Reilly four times for 92 yards, including a 24-yard TD pass to give the Dartmouth a 21-7 halftime lead.

Butler (1-2) scored its only points in the second quarter on quarterback Matt Lancaster's 5-yard scoring pass to Derek O'Connor, one of his nine receptions. Lancaster was 25-for-35 passing for 267 yards.
