Connor Mitch separating himself in practice?

Published Aug. 19, 2015 12:33 p.m. ET

The Gamecocks will enter game plan week before just about every team in the nation this season, as they open the college football season for the second year in a row, this season against North Carolina in Charlotte Thursday, Sept. 3. With time dwindling between now and the game, has any progress been made in finding the starter quarterback?

Quarterback coach G.A. Mangus hinted at the team's selection recently, as the coach gave Connor Mitch a "good grade" in the team's last practice, according to 247Sports.

Mitch has only attempting six passes in his career at South Carolina but came to Columbia as a four-star prospect and appears to have gained the coaching staff's confidence during fall camp.

Spurrier recently claimed there is no strategic advantage to not naming a starting quarterback, however he's not in a rush to name the starter either. Don't be surprised if the Old Ball Coach waits until kickoff to decide on the team's starter.
