Is Sports Betting Legal In Ohio?

Yes. Ohio allows both online and retail sports betting. The market launched on January 1, 2023, following the passage of House Bill 29 in 2021. The industry is regulated by the Ohio Casino Control Commission (OCCC). You can bet online and on mobile with licensed sportsbooks, and you can wager in person at approved retail locations such as casinos and certain stadium or arena sites. Ohio also authorizes sports betting kiosks at select businesses through the Ohio Lottery’s program. You must be 21 or older and physically located within Ohio to place a legal wager, and sportsbooks verify location through geolocation technology. For official information, visit the OCCC’s sports gaming page.
