Delgado to make US debut in exhibition vs Paraguay

CARY, N.C. (AP) Marky Delgado was set to make his debut for the United States in Tuesday night's exhibition against Paraguay.

The 22-year-old Toronto FC midfielder was part of a young lineup that included six others with five international appearances or fewer: defender Matt Miazga (five) and Cameron Carter-Vickers (two); midfielders Wil Trapp (four), Tyler Adams (three) and Kenny Saief (two); and goalkeeper Zack Steffen (two).

Steffen was in goal after making his debut in the second half of January exhibition against Bosnia-Herzegovina. Miazga and Carter-Vickers - a son of former NBA player Howard Carter - started in central defense, the pairing the U.S. used at last year's Under-20 World Cup. They were surrounded by more experienced outside backs: DeAndre Yedlin on the right and Jorge Villafana on the left.

Saief made his first appearance since last summer's exhibition against Ghana. He was joined in the midfield by Darlington Nagbe, Tyler Adams, Delgado and Trapp, who captained the team. Bobby Wood was the lone forward.

Five players on the bench have a chance to make their debuts: defenders Erik Palmer-Brown, Shaq Moore and Antonee Robinson, midfielder Tim Weah and forward Andrija Novakovich. Weah is a son of George Weah, Liberia's president and the 1995 FIFA Player of the Year.

Mifdfielder Weston McKennie did not dress because of a groin injury.
