NFL referee John Parry retires, joins ESPN as analyst
NEW YORK (AP) — Referee John Parry will trade in his stripes to join ESPN as an officiating analyst.
The NFL announced in a tweet Monday that Parry is retiring after 19 seasons that included working three Super Bowls. ESPN then revealed that Parry will contribute to “Monday Night Football” and its studio shows.
“MNF” producer Jay Rothman says Parry’s in-studio role “will be a first for ESPN’s NFL coverage. He will educate our commentators, staff, and, most importantly, millions of fans.”
Before he became a full-time official, Parry worked as a corporate pilot and a financial adviser. ESPN has previously used former officials Gerry Austin and Jeff Triplette as analysts.
