Dolphins have changed the name of their stadium once again

Published Aug. 16, 2016 5:29 p.m. ET

Even the most ardent Miami Dolphins fan would be hard-pressed to remember all the name changes the team's stadium has undergone since it opened in 1987.

Well, get ready to add another one to that long list -- Hard Rock Stadium. If you're counting, that's the eighth name change in the stadium's history. Here's the mostly forgettable list of stadium names: Dolphin Stadium, Joe Robbie Stadium, Dolphins Stadium, Pro Player Park, Pro Player Stadium, Landshark Stadium and Sun Life Stadium.

But it appears Hard Rock Stadium will be around for a while. According to the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero, the naming rights deal is so long that "kids entering kindergarten this fall will graduate high school and the name of the stadium when they get their diplomas will still be Hard Rock Stadium."

That's good news for Dolphins fans, who might finally name their team's stadium without having to look it up first.
