Impact Jones has signed a deal with Legacy Motor Club to stay in their No. 43 Toyota for multiple seasons. The 28-year-old is a three-time winner in NASCAR's top division and looking to continue the upward growth of this young race team. "Erik is one of the most talented drivers in NASCAR, I've had the chance to race against him and have had a chance to watch him drive for other teams and the CLUB," said co-owner Jimmie Johnson. "I admire his talent and am glad we will have him race for us for the upcoming years."

Impact Jones was cleared to return to action for last week's race at Kansas, but the team elected to use caution and give him one more week to rest his back from the injury he sustained at Talladega. After two weeks off, Jones should be able to race at Darlington provided he avoids any setbacks. It's a great track for Jones who owns two wins at The Track Too Tough To Tame. Corey Heim will be the reserve driver if Jones' back flares up again at any point in the season.

After further evaluation in North Carolina Sunday evening, it was discovered that he suffered a compression fracture in a lower vertebra. There is no timetable for his return at this point, and the team has tabbed Corey Heim to replace Jones in the No. 43 Toyota this weekend at Dover.

Released from hospital Jones was transported to the UAB University Hospital in Birmingham following the conclusion of the GEICO 500 and was released early Monday morning, the team announced.

Impact Jones suffered a horrific looking head-on collision into the outside wall late in Sunday's race. There was a concerning radio message from Jones right after contact that his back was hurt. They were able to get Jones out of the car and he was released from the infield care center. He did an interview with FOX as well where he said he was "fine but sore." After the race concluded it was announced that Jones would be taken to a local hospital for further evaluation. It was likely all just precautionary after the heavy impact. Jones returned home to North Carolina early Monday morning and has since been listed on the entry list for the upcoming race at Dover. Barring any problem not yet reported, Jones should be behind the wheel of the No. 43 at the Monster Mile. Corey Heim is Legacy Motor Club's reserve driver and would get the ride if Jones is unable to race for some reason.
