Impact Jones was the unlikely face among the Top 5 Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway. The Legacy Motor Club veteran would claim his best finish of the season with a good performance in the YellaWood 500. Jones would start deep in the field and even get some damage from the big one. However, Jones would rally during overtime and hold off Christopher Bell to claim the impressive fifth-place finish at Talladega. It was his first Top 5 of the season.

The 28-year-old is a three-time winner in NASCAR's top division and looking to continue the upward growth of this young race team. Released from hospital Jones was transported to the UAB University Hospital in Birmingham following the conclusion of the GEICO 500 and was released early Monday morning, the team announced.

Impact Jones suffered a horrific looking head-on collision into the outside wall late in Sunday's race. There was a concerning radio message from Jones right after contact that his back was hurt. They were able to get Jones out of the car and he was released from the infield care center. He did an interview with FOX as well where he said he was "fine but sore." After the race concluded it was announced that Jones would be taken to a local hospital for further evaluation. It was likely all just precautionary after the heavy impact. Jones returned home to North Carolina early Monday morning and has since been listed on the entry list for the upcoming race at Dover. Barring any problem not yet reported, Jones should be behind the wheel of the No. 43 at the Monster Mile. Corey Heim is Legacy Motor Club's reserve driver and would get the ride if Jones is unable to race for some reason.
