Impact Kaprielian has a long injury history, most recently undergoing shoulder surgery in October. He appears to be trending in the right direction and has time to be ready by Opening Day if all goes well. He's expected to throw at least two live batting practice sessions before pitching in the Cactus League.

Impact Ruiz will take a seat in favor of the left-handed-swinging JJ Bleday in center field. Both players were acquired in trades this offseason. As a 23-year-old in 2022, Ruiz slashed .332/.447/.526 with 16 home runs and a whopping 85 stolen bases between Double-A and Triple-A in the Padres and Brewers organizations. Ruiz's playing-time outlook is hazy at the moment with Opening Day still more than a month out.

Drew Steckenrider - Joins Oakland for camp Steckenrider signed a minor-league contract with the Athletics on Saturday that includes an invitation to MLB spring training, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Impact Steckenrider was an indispensable reliever for the Mariners during the 2021 season, turning in a 2.00 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 58:17 K:BB across 67.2 innings while collecting 14 saves. He appeared primed to maintain a key late-inning role for Seattle in 2022, but he took a huge step back in performance with a 5.65 ERA and 1.81 WHIP over 14.1 innings before he was ultimately booted off the 40-man roster in June. The 32-year-old didn't find much success (4.62 ERA, 21:17 K:BB in 25.1 innings) while spending the final three-plus months of the campaign at Triple-A Tacoma, but the Athletics are hoping the change of scenery will help him rediscover the strong form he displayed two years ago. With a strong spring, Steckrider should have a fair chance at winning a spot in Oakland's Opening Day bullpen.

Impact Bleday was the fourth pick of the 2019 MLB Draft out of Vanderbilt, and the outfielder struggled mightily in his 65 games with the Marlins in 2022 with a .167/.277/.309 slash line along with five home runs and four stolen bases over 238 plate appearances. A left-handed hitter, Bleday has easy plus power and a quality approach at the plate, but he's struggled to make hard contact as a professional. There's still time for Bleday to tap into his potential as a 25-year-old, and Oakland's rebuild offers him a chance to earn a starting spot. Fantasy managers should take a wait-and-see approach for the outfielder before considering him for a roster spot.
