Sam Selman - Optioned off roster Selman was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday.
Impact Selman has made 12 relief appearances for the Athletics this season, posting a forgettable 4.30 ERA. His 16:4 K:BB suggests things could be better for him going forward, but he won't get the chance to prove that at the big-league level for a stretch. Zach Logue was called up to take his place on the roster.

Jonah Bride - Not in Saturday's lineup Bride will not start Saturday against the Astros, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Impact Bride has made plenty of contact through his first 90 MLB plate appearances, striking out just 15.6 percent of the time, but he's struggled to hit the ball with much authority. A 1.4 percent barrel rate has led to zero home runs and just three extra-base hits, and he's slashing just .229/.289/.265. Nick Allen will start at second base Saturday.

Zach Logue - Called up ahead of start Logue was recalled as expected Saturday ahead of his scheduled start against the Astros.
Impact Logue, a 26-year-old lefty, hasn't been particularly impressive in his first taste of big-league action this year, posting a 4.79 ERA in seven starts and one relief appearance. He faces a tough matchup Saturday if he wants to lower that figure, though his 6.29 ERA in 14 starts for Triple-A Las Vegas doesn't give much reason to believe that he'll be able to handle one of the league's best lineups.

Sam Moll - Falls apart in first loss Moll (2-1) took the loss against the Astros on Friday, allowing four earned runs on three hits and a walk without recording an out.
Impact Moll's meltdown was highly atypical, considering he'd come into the night with a 2.02 ERA and had allowed more than one earned run just once in 43 appearances. However, the left-hander simply couldn't find his groove Friday after entering with Yuli Gurriel on first, putting Yordan Alvarez and Alex Bregman on via a single and a walk, respectively, before conceding a grand slam to Kyle Tucker. Moll's significant stumble aside, he's been a viable fantasy asset in formats that count holds, having garnered 12 of them alongside his pair of wins and a 10.1 K/9.

Skye Bolt - Laces pinch-hit double Bolt entered Friday's loss to the Astros as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning and remained in the game as a defensive replacement, hitting a two-run double in his first plate ap...
Impact Bolt came through to slice a four-run Athletics deficit in half with his seventh-inning two-bagger, which brought home Jonah Bride and Vimael Machin. The timely double was particularly noteworthy for Bolt, considering it served as only his second extra-base hit in the last 12 games.
AUGUST 13, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Vimael Machín - Multi-hit effort in loss Machin went 2-for-4 with two runs in a loss to the Astros on Friday.
Impact The multi-hit effort extended a productive stretch of hitting for the 28-year-old, who now owns a .353 average (6-for-17) over his last six games. Machin has arguably been running into a bit of tough luck at the big-league level to date when putting the ball in play, as he was saddled with a .245 BABIP during his 2020 debut, a .182 figure in that category last season and a .200 mark this season until his current hot stretch.
AUGUST 13, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Jonah Bride - Pair of doubles in loss Bride went 2-for-3 with an RBI double, another two-bagger, a walk and a run in a loss to the Astros on Friday.
Impact Bride's productive night marked the fifth time he'd hit safely in the last six games, and it featured his first two extra-base hits since he laced a double against the Royals back on June 18 for his first such knock in the majors. The rookie seems to be hitting his stride at the plate somewhat at the big-league level, as he now carries a .258 average and .343 on-base percentage over his last nine games, a span during which he's generated an acceptable 20.0 percent strikeout rate coupled with a solid 11.4 percent walk rate.
AUGUST 13, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Adam Oller - Walks three in no-decision Oller gave up two earned runs on five hits and three walks over 4.2 innings in a 7-5 loss to the Astros on Friday. He struck out two and did not factor into the decision.
Impact Oller came into the fifth having only given up one run, but he was not able to make it out of inning. He was pulled after 78 pitches and the runner he left on base came in to score on a Kyle Tucker grand slam off reliever Sam Moll three batters later. Oller has struggled so far in his rookie season. He has an ERA of 7.26 and a WHIP of 1.78 over nine starts and 14 appearances. Oller's batted-ball metrics are some of the worst in the majors so there is no sign that his fortunes are about to turn around. The 27-year-old right-hander is expected to take the mound next week at Texas.

Zach Logue - Returning to rotation Logue will start Saturday against the Astros and remain in the rotation going forward, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Impact Logue has made seven starts and one relief appearance this season, with generally disappointing results. His ERA sits at 4.79, but it could be even worse considering his 17.2 percent strikeout rate and 25.2 percent groundball rate. His 6.29 ERA in 14 starts for Triple-A Las Vegas doesn't inspire much confidence either, but the Athletics will nonetheless give him another look down the stretch.

Austin Pruitt - Takes first loss Wednesday Pruitt (0-1) took the loss in extra innings against the Angels on Wednesday, allowing an unearned run on one hit over one inning.
Impact Pruitt needed only nine pitches to get through his one frame, but he allowed a go-ahead RBI double to Magneuris Sierra that plated inning-opening runner Steven Duggar with what turned out to be the winning run. The right-hander has had a rocky second half thus far, posting a 9.00 ERA and 1.75 WHIP in four innings across five appearances.
AUGUST 11, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Ramón Laureano - Three-hit effort in loss Laureano went 3-for-4 with an RBI infield single and was caught stealing on his only attempt in an extra-innings loss to the Angels on Wednesday.
Impact Laureano's 10th-inning infield single plated Skye Bolt and knotted the game at 4-4 at the time. The outfielder came into the game mired in a brief 1-for-17 slump, and the three-hit effort was only his second of what has been an underwhelming season that's seen him generate a .225 average and .304 on-base percentage across 81 games.

How Ex-Yankees Have Performed With New Teams Since Trade Deadline It’s a small sample size, but Joey Gallo, Jordan Montgomery and JP Sears have played well with their new teams since the trade deadline
AUGUST 11, 2022 • NEWSOBSERVER.COM
Tony Kemp - Drives in three Kemp went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a walk and three RBI Wednesday against the Angels.
Impact Kemp was one of the few sources of offense for the Athletics on Wednesday, as he came to the plate with the bases loaded in the seventh inning and managed a bases-clearing double. Since the All-Star break, Kemp has hit .283 with 11 RBI and five runs scored across 52 plate appearances. He should remain a regular in Oakland's lineup against right-handed pitching, but overall he has just a 77 wRC+ and .269 wOBA in 101 games for the season.
AUGUST 11, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Jordan Díaz - Intriguing returns in Double-A Diaz is hitting .309/.354/.500 with 14 home runs and a 22:60 BB:K through 89 games for Double-A Midland this season.
Impact There was some concern about whether he would be able to sustain his productivity in High-A last year (.821 OPS) at a higher level of baseball, but he's done that and more. The power (40 extra-base hits) and the contact ability (15.6 percent strikeout rate) make Diaz an exciting hitting prospect despite his defensive limitations. Previously a third baseman by trade, Diaz has appeared there just seven times this year, as he's mostly played first base or served as the DH.
AUGUST 11, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
JP Sears - Allows two runs Sears allowed two earned runs on three hits and no walks while striking out three across 5.1 innings Wednesday against the Angels. He did not factor into the decision.
Impact Sears was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas prior to the start and made his debut with the Athletics. He faced a subpar Angels lineup, and the only earned runs charged to him came after he exited the game with runners on first and second. Sears should have the chance to stick in the rotation after Paul Blackburn (finger) was placed on the injured list Wednesday. Across 27.1 frames this season, Sears has maintained a 2.30 ERA and an 18:5 K:BB in appearances split between the Yankees and Athletics.

Skye Bolt - On bench after Stevenson's call-up Bolt is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.
Impact Bolt went 0-for-6 while starting in each of the last three contests, but he salvaged some value by chipping in two stolen bases. The 28-year-old looks like he could be a candidate to move into a short-side platoon role moving forward, as the Athletics called up lefty-hitting outfielder Cal Stevenson from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday. Stevenson will start in center field with the Angels bringing righty Touki Toussaint to the hill, leaving no room in the starting nine for Bolt.
AUGUST 10, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Chad Pinder - Retreats to bench Pinder is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.
Impact After going 2-for-11 with a solo home run, a double and a walk while starting in three of the past four games, Pinder will head to the bench with right-hander Touki Toussaint on the hill for the Angels. The righty-hitting Pinder still projects to see most of his starts against left-handed pitching moving forward, though he'll occasionally get opportunities versus righties, too.
