Impact Bolt enjoyed a solid afternoon out of the bottom of the order, one day after slugging his fourth homer after entering the game as a pinch hitter. The 28-year-old's production has been a bit of a mixed bag recently, as he owns both a 28.1 percent strikeout rate and serviceable .733 OPS over his last 11 games.

Impact Brown's eighth-inning blast gave the Athletics some fleeting hope of a comeback and served as his fifth time leaving the yard in the last seven games. The 30-year-old is hitting .391 (9-for-23) over that span, boosting his season average (.238) to its highest point since April 14.

Impact Oakland dropped Charles from its 40-man roster to clear a spot for infielder David MacKinnon, whom the team claimed off waivers from the Angels. A 25-year-old right-hander, Charles has yet to appear above the Double-A level and has found little success in 2022 after having missed the entire past two seasons. Over his 32 innings at Midland this season, Charles has posted a 10.41 ERA, 2.38 WHIP and 31:33 K:BB.

Adrian Martinez - Respectable showing in loss Martinez (2-3) took the loss Sunday against San Francisco, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out five in 4.1 innings.
Impact Martinez was called up before the game to fill the spot in the rotation left vacant when Frankie Montas was traded. The first run against Martinez came on a solo homer to Mike Yastrzemski in the third and the second in the fifth inning after he was removed with two on and one out. It was his fifth start of the season for Oakland and first since July 11. For the season he has a 6.08 ERA and 1.44 WHIP with six homers allowed in 23.2 innings. Should he stay with the big-league club, his next start will likely be next weekend in Houston.

Elvis Andrus - Gets Sunday off Andrus is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Impact Nick Allen will move over from the keystone to step in at shortstop in place of Andrus. With a .777 OPS since the beginning of July, Andrus has been one of the Athletics' more productive hitters over the past month and change, so the 33-year-old should continue to see the majority of the starts at shortstop even though he doesn't necessarily fit into Oakland's rebuilding effort.

Stephen Piscotty - Heads to bench Sunday Piscotty is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Impact Piscotty will cede his spot in the Oakland outfield to Skye Bolt, who is rewarded with a second consecutive start after going 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 7-3 loss. Dating back to the All-Star break, Piscotty is hitting .231 with three home runs and two doubles in 12 games. While that level of production isn't anything special, it might be enough for Piscotty to hold down a near-everyday role, given the Athletics' lack of appealing alternatives.

Impact Garcia will cede his spot on the 26-man active roster to right-hander Adrian Martinez, who was recalled from Las Vegas in advance of his start Sunday against the Giants. Following his July 10 promotion from Triple-A, Garcia found playing time hard to come by with the Athletics. He appeared in only eight games during his nearly month-long stay with the big club, hitting .250 with two doubles, three runs and one RBI.

Adrian Martinez - Called up ahead of start The Athletics recalled Martinez from Triple-A Las Vegas in advance of his scheduled start Sunday against the Giants in Oakland.
Impact Oakland sent first baseman/designated hitter Dermis Garcia to Triple-A to clear a spot on the active roster for Martinez, who will temporarily settle in as the Athletics' No. 5 starter in the wake of Frankie Montas being dealt to the Yankees ahead of the trade deadline. Considering Martinez turned in a 6.52 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over four starts with the Athletics earlier this season and because his numbers at Triple-A over a larger sample aren't much better (5.54 ERA, 1.45 WHIP in 16 starts), he'll likely need a respectable showing against San Francisco to ensure he sticks in the big-league rotation beyond Sunday. The Athletics have three other starting pitchers (Zach Logue, Jared Koenig and JP Sears) on the 40-man roster waiting in the wings at Triple-A to replace Martinez if he can't get the job done.

Skye Bolt - Slugs two-run shot Saturday Bolt entered Saturday's loss to the Giants as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning and hit a two-run home run in his second of two plate appearances.
Impact Bolt's ninth-inning homer didn't have an impact on the game result, but it extended a decent stretch of hitting for the 28-year-old. Bolt now owns a .250 average and .464 slugging percentage over his last 10 games, a sample during which he's belted both of his round trippers on the season and driven in five runs overall while adding a stolen base and scoring on three occasions.

Adam Oller - Tagged for four in loss Oller (1-5) gave up four earned runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out one over five plus innings to take the loss in a 7-3 defeat against the Giants on Saturday.
Impact Oller came into the game on the heels of a six strikeout performance, but he took a step backwards by giving up four runs and only striking out one batter. The rookie right-hander got himself into trouble early by issuing three free passes in the first inning, including one which walked in a run. He later gave up a two-run blast in the sixth inning before being pulled without recording an out in the frame. Oller's xSLG and xERA/xwOBA are in the lowest percentile of all pitchers according to Baseball Savant and he wears an ERA of 7.63 in 13 appearances this season. The Athletics are expected to trot him out again for their upcoming road series at Houston.
