College football picks: Trend of going for it on 4th down continues to rise and so does success rate

The trend of college football teams going for it on fourth down instead of punting or attempting field goals is continuing to rise, and so is the success rate

Chase Hendricks - Season-low output in loss Hendricks had two receptions (on five targets) for 13 yards during Tuesday's 17-13 loss against Western Michigan.
Impact Hendricks couldn't get it going once again in the loss to the Broncos, and much of this can be attributed to QB1 Parker Navarro struggling with accuracy. The starting wide receiver has been a workhorse for much of the season, but he's been on a rough patch in his last two games. The junior has still surpassed 100 yards in six showings, meaning he should be more than capable of doing it again in the next two games for the Bobcats.

Sieh Bangura - Records another dominant game Bangura had 16 carries for 97 yards and one touchdown and hauled in their only target for zero yards during Tuesday's 17-13 defeat versus Western Michigan.
Impact Bangura dominated on the ground once again for the Bobcats, nearly reaching the century mark and finding another touchdown. The starting running back has now recorded 43 rushes for 446 yards and seven touchdowns in his last four games. He's also on pace to beat his 222-1078-13 rushing line from the 2022 season, but he'll need to continue his tear in the Bobcats' final two games of the year.

Parker Navarro - Struggles as passer in loss Navarro was 8-for-19 passing for 70 yards and one interception during Tuesday's 17-13 loss against Western Michigan. He also had 18 rushes for 105 yards with one touchdown.
Impact Navarro's shakiness as a passer continued against the Broncos, and it contributed to a loss, despite a salvaged rushing performance. The starting quarterback's totals as a passer last season were similar to the pace he's on this year, but he was at least extremely dominant on the ground. He's unfortunately not been as solid a rusher this year, with just five rushing scores across 10 games, compared to 11 at this point last year. Navarro has fortunately still led the Bobcats to a 4-2 MAC record, which could go somewhere if he can close out the season with two more wins.

Broc Lowry - Leads on ground in sneaky win Lowry was 9-for-14 passing for 126 yards during Tuesday's 17-13 win against Ohio. He also had 18 rushes for 92 yards with one touchdown.
Impact Lowry recorded another game with low passing output in the win over the Bobcats, but he made up for it with an impressive rushing performance. The redshirt sophomore quarterback logged his fifth straight showing with more than 80 rushing yards, and his third of the season with more than 90. He should continue to be a rushing threat in the Broncos' final two games of the campaign.

Jalen Buckley - 82 rushing yards in win Buckley rushed 14 times for 82 yards and a touchdown in Tuesday's 17-13 win over Ohio.
Impact Buckley logged his best yardage total since Week 2 in the win over the Bobcats, and he did so even with quarterback Broc Lowry outpacing him on the ground. The starting rusher has slightly regressed since last season, with 433 rushing yards and three touchdowns across nine games compared to 683 rushing yards and nine touchdowns across ten in 2024. He'll look to finish out the season strong with a game at NIU next Tuesday and another at Eastern Michigan the following Tuesday.

Eian Pugh - DNP for Week 12 Pugh (undisclosed) did not play during Ohio's 17-13 loss Tuesday at Western Michigan.
Impact Pugh logged another DNP, his 2025 season's seventh because of undisclosed reasons. For then, the wide receiver's stats include five receptions (on five targets) and 56 yards, 11.2 averaged per catch.
