Isaiah Johnson - Catches TD Johnson only rushed for 11 yards on six carries against SMU, but he did have three catches for 32 yards and a score.
Impact Johnson has technically began the season with back-to-back games with a touchdown. However, a running back netting a mere 11 yards on six carries will never cause too much excitement. That goes double when he's the clear backup, which is definitely the case with the Mean Green.

Roderic Burns - Has 12 catches Burns caught 12 passes for 141 yards versus SMU on Saturday.
Impact When Burns had six catches for 114 yards and a touchdown in the opener, it was fair to wonder if that was just him feasting on FCS school NW State. After this, though, Burns clearly looks like a player to be reckoned with in this offense.

Jyaire Shorter - Nets 107 yards Shorter caught six passes for 107 yards against SMU on Saturday.
Impact Shorter was surprisingly held without a catch in Week 1, but North Texas was playing an overmatched NW State and Shorter was coming off a leg injury. They may have just been easing him into action. This performance should alleviate some concerns.

DeAndre Torrey - Rushes for 71 yards Torrey rushed 16 times for 71 yards and had one catch for 10 yards against SMU on Saturday.
Impact Well, Torrey didn't rush for 244 yards and three touchdowns again like he did against NW State. This was a tougher opponent, though, and Torrey still got the most carries by a sizable margin. He's the clear lead back for the Mean Green.

Jace Ruder - Throws TD, two INTs Ruder went 32-for-51 for 366 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions against SMU on Saturday. He also rushed 10 times for 15 yards.
Impact The Mean Green let Ruder air it out, and he definitely racked up the attempts and yards. However, Ruder now has two touchdowns against four picks in 2021, and the defenses have not been tough either. He could lose the starting job soon.

Tommy Bush - Carted off Saturday Bush was carted to the locker room with an injury during Saturday's loss to SMU, Joseph Hoyt of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact Bush was tackled awkwardly and could not put weight on his right foot after the fact. He'll likely be evaluated further in the coming days, at which point there will be a timetable for his return.
