Zion Johnson - Will be starting RB in spring
Johnson (undisclosed) will be Cincinnati's starting running back in the spring, Keegan Nickoson of 247Sports reports.
Impact
Even though Johnson may not be 100 percent and Cincinnati signed several running backs to improve at the position, Johnson will be UC's primary RB when the team begins its spring practice. He showed promise with his 22 rushing attempts, averaging 4.8 yards per carry. Going into the spring, Johnson's primary focus remains on recovering from an undisclosed injury that took him out of the Liberty Bowl.

Javonnie Gibson - Transfers to Cincinnati
Gibson will transfer to Cincinnati, per his personal X account.
Impact
Gibson went to Oklahoma after a huge 2024 season with Arkansas-Pine Bluff, in which he surpassed 1,200 receiving yards. He was limited to 18 catches for 199 yards and one touchdown with the Sooners in 2025, however, and he's elected to take his talents to Cincinnati for his redshirt senior season.

JC French IV - Joining Cincinnati
French has committed to Cincinnati, Matt Zenitz of CBSSports.com reports.
Impact
French is expected to compete for the QB1 role in Cincinnati, although it wouldn't be surprising if there's no competition at all. He threw for combined totals of 5,760 yards and 37 touchdowns in his last two seasons at Georgia Southern. He was more than a pocket passer, however, as he also added six rushing scores in 2025.

Cole Tabb - Signs with Cincinnati
Tabb has signed with Cincinnati, Matt Zenitz of CBSSports.com reports.
Impact
Tabb entered the transfer portal after two seasons with Stanford. In 2025, working behind Micah Ford, Tabb carried the ball 114 times for 445 yards and three touchdowns. He's likely to compete for a featured role with the Bearcats. Tabb has three years of eligibility remaining.

Gi'Bran Payne - Commits to Cincinnati
Payne has committed to Cincinnati, Keegan Knickoson of 247Sports.com reports.
Impact
Even though Cincinnati's running back room, already including Manny Covey and Zion Johnson, is shaping up to be competitive, Payne will take his chances enrolling at his hometown's best college. While part of Notre Dame three seasons, he logged 56 rushing attempts for 226 yards and two touchdowns. Payne also recorded that many receiving TDs.

Cyrus Allen - Headed for NFL Draft
Allen has officially announced his declaration for the 2026 NFL Draft, per a post on his personal X account.
Impact
Allen is coming off a solid showing as a senior for the Bearcats, totaling 51 catches for 674 yards and 13 touchdowns. Considering he has already played 10-plus games in four seasons, it seemed inevitable he was headed for the pro ranks, but it's now official. Allen isn't viewed as a major draft prospect, so he'll need to impress during the draft process to hear his name called next spring.

Cyrus Allen - Muted effort in bowl game
Allen reeled in both of his targets for nine yards and one touchdown during Friday's 35-13 defeat versus Navy.
Impact
Allen's down effort in the bowl game isn't shocking, given the downpour that ensued throughout the contest and the fact that he was playing with a backup quarterback after Brendan Sorsby's departure via the transfer portal. Allen still finished off his senior season with a career-best 51 catches and 13 receiving touchdowns, adding 674 receiving yards to that total along with seven carries for 20 yards. He'll now turn his sights toward the next level, though he likely faces an uphill climb to hear his name called in the 2026 NFL Draft.

ROTOWIRE
Manny Covey - Career-best effort in bowl game
Covey compiled 11 rushes for 78 yards and reeled in all five targets for 28 yards during Friday's 35-13 Liberty Bowl loss to Navy.
Impact
Covey was among the few backs the Bearcats had at their disposal for the bowl game, with Evan Pryor entering the transfer portal and Tawee Walker declaring for the NFL Draft, but he made the most of his opportunity to turn in career-highs in rush attempts, rushing yards, and receptions. Assuming he decides to stick around, Covey could be a candidate to lead the Bearcats' rushing attack in 2026, and he posted a solid audition for the role in Friday's bowl game.

ROTOWIRE
Samaj Jones - Splits reps in Liberty Bowl
Jones completed two of five passes for 19 yards during Friday's 35-13 loss against Navy. He also had 15 rushes for 57 yards with one touchdown.
Impact
Jones may have seen more action than expected in the Liberty Bowl due to a torrential downpour throughout the contest, which limited the effectiveness of the passing game. The redshirt freshman made the most of his opportunity to notch his first career rushing touchdown and could be among the favorites to start under center for the Bearcats in 2026 with Brendan Sorsby hitting the transfer portal and Brady Lichtenberg graduating. Cincinnati has an incoming freshman to add to the room and seems a likely candidate to add another signal-caller or two via the transfer portal before evaluating its options, Jones included, to handle the starting duties next season.
