Cade Yacamelli - Fumbles in blowout loss Yacamelli compiled eight carries for 39 yards and reeled in his only target for five yards during Saturday's 42-10 defeat versus Alabama.
Impact Yacamelli logged eight carries for the second game in a row. What's most encouraging was that the junior remained involved in the rushing game despite the return of No. 2 running back Tawee Walker, who was sidelined last week with an undisclosed injury. Walker and top running back Chez Mellusi led the ground game with 11 carries apiece. Yacamelli provided some much-needed explosiveness in the second half, including on a 17-play, 75-yard scoring drive when he logged six touches for 36 net-yards. However, he followed this up with a costly fumble at the Badgers' own 15-yard line on the team's next offensive series, setting up Alabama to go ahead 35-10 at the end of the third quarter. Wisconsin will likely need to rely even more on the running game moving forward after starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke suffered what appears to be a significant injury in Saturday's loss. This could leave Yacamelli with a relatively productive role as RB3 when the Badgers next play on the road versus USC on Saturday, Sept. 28.

The 6-foot-1 senior tight end has logged two receptions for 22 yards across two contests, but his 103 snaps at the position led the team through the first two weeks. Nowakowski will have the benefit of a bye week as the Badgers' will look to rebound from a tough outing on Sept. 28, against another formidable opponent in USC.

Tawee Walker - Contained by Crimston Tide Walker totaled 11 rushes for 26 yards and caught his lone target for zero yards during Saturday's 42-10 defeat versus Alabama.
Impact Walker didn't appear limited in any capacity after missing last week's win over South Dakota with an unspecified injury. The 5-foot-9, 218-pound rusher once again showed his powerful style while retaining his role as co-starter alongside Chez Mellusi, who logged 11 carries for 66 yards. However, neither back found much sustained success versus the Crimson Tide defense, as the Badgers offense couldn't overcome the loss of starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke who left with a lower-body injury very early in the game. This included a crucial 4th-down attempt late in the first quarter when Walker was met behind the line of scrimmage for a short loss. Van Dyke was seen walking on crutches during the second half, and is set to undergo an MRI with what will probably be a significant injury, according to SBNation. With Braedyn Locke set to step in under center moving forward, the Badgers will likely need Walker and Mellusi to help buoy this offense moving forward into Big Ten play. Their next game will come on the road versus USC on Saturday, Sept. 28.
