Jordan Riley - Struggles from the field
Riley posted 11 points (4-24 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-6 FT), three rebounds and three steals in 35 minutes during Monday's 99-51 loss to North Carolina.
Impact
Riley had his worst shooting game of the season and just barely managed to keep his double-digit scoring streak alive. He had averaged 26.5 points over his previous four games, but couldn't find the range against the Tar Heel defense. Riley has not made a 3-pointer in his last five games (12 attempts). The Pirates open American Conference play on New Year's Eve against Tulane. Riley averaged 17.0 points against the Green Wave last season in a split.

Giovanni Emejuru - Double-doubles in loss
Emejuru registered 21 points (8-11 FG, 5-7 FT), 14 rebounds, one block and one steal over 34 minutes during Monday's 99-51 loss to North Carolina.
Impact
Emejuru showed he could produce against top competition and was really the only Pirate to show up against the Tar Heels. He had his sixth double-double and third in the last five games. The 6-10 senior is averaging 14.2 points on 57.9 percent from the field and 9.5 rebounds. The Pirates open American Conference play on New Year's Eve against Tulane.

Jayshayne Woodard - Out indefinitely
Head coach Michael Schwartz indicated that Woodard (undisclosed) could be out for an unspecified length of time moving forward, per Stephen Igoe of 247Sports.com.
Impact
Woodard has missed each of the past two games for East Carolina due to an undisclosed injury and looks to be heading for a longer absence. The 6-foot-7 wing previously missed five consecutive contests earlier in the year due to a leg injury but was able to make his return to action for a couple games before going down again. Schwartz seemed to be unsure of what was going to happen with Woodard as well as Eli Delaurier, indicating that the Pirates may have to figure out some depth for the foreseeable future.

Eli DeLaurier - No timetable for return
DeLaurier (foot) has no timetable for a potential return to action, per Stephen Igoe of 247Sports.com.
Impact
DeLaurier has already missed five straight games and was reported earlier in the week to be primed for an extended absence. "Eli DeLaurier, and Jay (Woodard), we don't know what's going to happen," head coach Michael Schwartz told reporters. It appears at the moment, the Pirates don't know how long they'll be without DeLaurier and he may be in danger of missing the season.

Emejuru closed with 21 points (9-11 FG, 3-3 FT), seven rebounds, one assist, three blocks and one steal in 39 minutes during Wednesday's 74-53 victory over Presbyterian.
Impact
Emejuru had not scored more than 15 points in his six previous games, but was able to use his size against the Blue Hose. He has at least seven rebounds in all but two games and had five double-doubles. He will need to stay out of foul trouble to produce on Monday against North Carolina. He is second in the American Conference at 9.2 rebounds.

Luke Davis - Starts, grabs 11 boards
Davis finished Sunday's 73-70 win over Buffalo with six points (2-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 11 rebounds, one assist, three blocks and two steals across 23 minutes.
Impact
Davis started for the first time this season. The 6-8 senior who transferred in from New Orleans set season highs across the board. His previous highs were five points, eight boards and a block. The Pirates are 1-0 in Davis' starts, so maybe he will stick in the starting lineup.
