Cardet's 23 lead Chicago State over Southern Indiana 78-67

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Wesley Cardet Jr.'s 23 points helped Chicago State defeat Southern Indiana 78-67 on Sunday night.

Cardet added five rebounds and three steals for the Cougars (1-2). Jahsean Corbett scored 18 points and added six rebounds. Brent Davis had 16 points and shot 6 for 11, including 2 for 6 from beyond the arc.

AJ Smith led the way for the Screaming Eagles (0-3) with 21 points and 16 rebounds. Jeremiah Hernandez added 18 points and three steals for Southern Indiana. Jack Mielke also had 10 points.

Both teams next play Tuesday. Chicago State hosts CSU Northridge and Southern Indiana plays Tiffin at home.
