Josh McCown jokes about TMZ report

Josh McCown knows exactly who he is and how old he is. That’s the sense you get when listening to him speak about the recent TMZ report that depicted locker room outrage that he got the starting QB job back after Johnny Manziel led the Browns to victory against Tennessee. McCown started by cracking jokes and then used his time in front of the media to minimize the report, although not completely dismiss it the way Joe Thomas did. McCown instead joked, “I didn’t know what TMZ was, but I reached out to ’em.”

In the end, as long as Josh McCown is right that the team is giving its best efforts, it doesn’t matter much that some in the locker room might not agree with the decision. That being said, it’s difficult to accept that the Browns gave their best efforts on Sunday against the Oakland Raiders as they failed to show up in the first half. If that’s a team giving max effort and not being distracted by the quarterback decision, we’re in for a season that will feel much much longer than just 16 games.
